The medium of comics is so vast and popular in this day and age that it can be difficult to keep up with, let alone, stay up to date on. Often, series will get passed over or overlooked, especially if they fall into a certain niche. I overlooked most of the series set in the Energon Universe, a multi series universe by Skybound and Image, encompassing Transformers as well as characters from the G.I Joe Franchise.

Cobra Commander is one of the 5 issue limited series that introduces readers to the dark side of the G.I joe/ Energon Universe being wonderfully crafted. Written by Joshua Williamson and art (above and below) by Andrea Milana, the limited series gives readers insight into how the infamous leader of Cobra came to be and his early rise to power as well, first interactions with major characters from G.I Joe and Transformers. Williamson and Milana compliment each other very well in this miniseries and keep it flowing so smoothly it’s almost a shame it only goes for 5 issues.

This Cobra Commander miniseries is a welcome and engaging entry into the already impressive and expanding Energon Universe being assembled by Skybound and its incredibly talented group or writers and artists. How seamlessly these characters and properties are being interwoven into each other is worth checking out the EU alone. Whether you be a longtime comic collector or are just getting started, the Energon Universe or EU for short is a terrific new point in comics, and everything being added into this Universe has been very promising and wildly entertaining.
